Fuki Wang
ABOUT
A rising flutist of the new generation, Fuki Wang is recognized for her warm and sincere tone, expressive musicality, and refined, agile technique. Actively engaged in the music scene, she has received numerous awards and pursued a diverse artistic path, breaking beyond the conventions of traditional flute schools. She is among the rare Taiwanese musicians to hold degrees from both top American and German conservatories.
Fuki Wang graduated from the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, where she was awarded a full scholarship for all four years of study and studied under Jeffrey Khaner, Principal Flutist of the Philadelphia Orchestra. She later continued her studies in Germany, earning her Master’s degree with highest honors from the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin, where she studied with renowned French flutist Mathieu Dufour, former principal flutist of both the Berlin Philharmonic and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.Influenced by the German, French, and American flute traditions, Fuki Wang has developed a versatile and free-spirited performance style, alongside a distinctive teaching philosophy. She is deeply passionate about education and hopes to share the joy of playing the flute with others.
She emphasizes cultivating musical sensitivity and appreciation—not merely playing the correct notes, but deeply understanding the music and expressing genuine musicality and emotion through performance.She is dedicated to discovering each student’s unique qualities, guiding them to develop their own artistic voice through music.She places strong focus on fundamentals such as tone production, breathing, and posture, and applies clear and efficient practice strategies to maximize learning outcomes.
Drawing from her international study experience, she also provides professional guidance for students pursuing music education abroad, including summer programs, pre-college training, and undergraduate and graduate applications. Through first-hand experience, she helps students define their goals and present their best selves throughout the application process.
To her, music is a truly special language—one that transcends distance, allowing people to connect sincerely and freely in the present moment. She believes that everyone possesses a unique voice of their own.
