Shih Jou-Tsai
ABOUT
From a young age, she received piano training from her mother, Fumei Liao. During her junior high and high school years, she was admitted to the music program at Taichung's Xiaoming Girls' High School, where she excelled in both piano and cello as a double major, studying piano under Teacher Lai Yiru and cello under Teacher Zhang Yuqing.
In 2009, she entered National Taiwan University of Arts, where she achieved outstanding results in concerts and competitions, winning the Piano Group Scholarship at the "Qin Yun Chuan Xin" competition in 2012 with first place.
During her studies, she actively participated in piano masterclasses and served as a collaborative pianist for numerous vocal and instrumental concerts and masterclasses. She also accompanied a mixed choir. Notably, she collaborated on the piano for Huang Ziqing's cantata "Chang Hen Ge," Orff's "Carmina Burana," and Xian Xinghai's "Yellow River Concerto." Additionally, she served as the piano rehearsal accompanist for Verdi's opera "Nabucco," conducted by Professor Zeng Daoxiong, a renowned authority in Taiwanese opera.
In 2014, she was accepted into Japan's premier art institution, the Tokyo University of the Arts, to study piano performance. She was favored by Professor Watanabe Kenji, the director, and studied under him. During her time in Japan, she also received guidance from Chopin authorities Prof. Andrzej Jasinski and Prof. Piotr Paleczny, as well as Prof. Jacques Rouvier from Berlin University of the Arts. Within two years, she successfully completed two solo piano recitals and her master's thesis in Japanese, earning excellent grades and receiving tuition exemption along with the Ryū no Ko Public Interest Foundation Scholarship.
After graduation, she focused on piano teaching and accompaniment, dedicating herself to promoting the use of original scores in Taiwan. Through careful study of the scores and exploration of various tonal treatments, she hopes to foster mutual growth in teaching with her students.
