Lumière - Ephemeral Light・Chasing Shadows and Sounds - Dong-Yi Lin's Piano Recital

Pianist :Lin - Dong Yi

聲是光,響是影。

Sound is light, echo is shadow.

連續不斷的明亮敲擊,殘響繞樑不絕,交織纏綿的光與影。

Continuous bright strikes, lingering echoes intertwine endlessly, weaving together light and shadow.

聲與響,光與影。

Sound and echo, light and shadow.

無著浮光也當擲地有聲,一瞬掠影抑能不同凡響。

Even fleeting light should resonate with a solid voice; a momentary shadow can indeed be extraordinary.

2023 saw the emergence of Tung-Yi Lin, a prodigious young pianist who enthralled the jury at the Young Talent Piano Competition. Tung-Yi’s exceptional expressiveness and technical mastery earned him both the First Prize and the distinguished Debussy Special Award.
Over the next half year, we've come to appreciate Tung-Yi as a study in contrasts - outwardly reserved and refined, yet harboring an inexhaustible wellspring of passion. His artistry evokes the subtle radiance of daybreak in the mountains, where lingering starlight and diaphanous clouds cast long, evocative shadows.

The Claude Debussy Centre Musical et Artistique is honored to collaborate with Tung-Yi Lin. Together, we aim to transmute the serene atmospheres of Debussy's compositions into ephemeral visions and fleeting impressions, each note resonating in the hearts of our audience.

Debussy: Preludes Book I, Op. 117 No. 7: What the West Wind Saw

The storm approaches from afar, carrying with it swirling sand, chaos, and panic. Its overwhelming pressure mercilessly engulfs both land and hearts.

In Debussy's "Ce qu'a vu le vent d'Ouest" (What the West Wind Saw), a torrent of rapidly flowing notes and sharp, persistent sounds creates waves of climactic tension, delivering a powerful sonic experience.

Lin Dong-Yi, with his refined and masterful technique, manipulates both notes and gale-force winds. From his fingertips emerges a focused, elegant, and precise disaster that quickens the audience's pulse and grips their souls, compelling them to ascend, scatter, and plummet alongside the music.

Amidst this tempest, what landscapes do you perceive?
