Szu-Yin Lin is known for her solid, grounded technique and a warm, nuanced tone. A seasoned collaborator with extensive experience in chamber music, she possesses a keen ability to discern her students' unique personalities and strengths, tailoring her instruction to their individual needs. In her teaching, she places a strong emphasis on the relationship between physical movement and tonal quality.
EXPERIENCE
Szu-Yin Lin received her foundational classical music training in Taiwan, studying under Professors Tadeu Coacci, Hui-Ying Lin, Ming-Hui Lin, Shan-Shan Wang, and Ai-Kuang Sun.
She earned her Master of Music in Piano Performance from the Manhattan School of Music in New York City, where she was a student of the renowned Russian pianist Arkady Aronov. She subsequently pursued doctoral training in musical arts in Washington, D.C., studying piano performance and chamber music under Bösendorfer Artist Ivo Kaltchev.
During her time in the United States, Dr. Lin was frequently invited to international music festivals and selected for masterclasses with esteemed artists such as Boris Berman, John O’Conor, Antonio Pompa-Baldi, Peter Winograd, Borislava Taneva, Markus Wagner, and Netanel Draiblate.
An active collaborator, she served as a Collaborative Piano Assistant for the Instrumental Department at the Manhattan School of Music and held a position at the Kaufman Music Center. Her career as a collaborative pianist has led to performances at prestigious venues across Taiwan and the U.S., including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Merkin Hall at Kaufman Center, DiMenna Center for Classical Music, the National Opera Center, Taipei National Concert Hall, and Weiwuying (National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts).
