ABOUT

Angel Chen (Yu-Ru) specializes in piano performance and collaborative piano, with a focus on classical chamber music and piano pedagogy.

In performance, I prioritize tonal layers and harmonic balance, excelling in conveying emotional flow through nuanced touch and phrasing with a keen sense of breath. Beyond solo work, I actively engage in chamber music, relishing the interplay with diverse instruments to create dynamic musical dialogues.

#Teaching Approach
My teaching style is vibrant and imaginative, using vivid analogies to help students discover their unique musical voice. Lessons emphasize proper hand posture, rhythmic precision, music theory fundamentals, and the synergy between muscle relaxation and phrasing breathwork—guiding students toward a natural, effortless playing state.

#Musical Reflection
To me, music is a dialogue with the self, a means to heal, and a gentle bridge to the world. It has been a steadfast companion through life’s chapters, allowing me to listen inward, express emotions, and find equilibrium and strength in daily life.
